Flam Paradiddle-Diddle

The flam paradiddle-diddle is a paradiddle-diddle with a flam on the first note, and it alternates hands every group.

Capital letters are main notes. Small letters are grace notes played just before the main note.

How to practice it

  1. Play the main notes alone first, without grace notes.
  2. Add the grace notes, keeping them low and quiet, about an inch off the head.
  3. Speed up only when every flam sounds like one thick note, not two.
  4. The flam hand changes each group, so the grace note comes from the opposite hand every time.

Where you will use it

Its sextuplet feel makes it a strong fill pattern in rock and drum corps music.
