RUDIMENT #32 OF 40 · DRAG RUDIMENTS
Single Drag Tap
The single drag tap is a drag followed by an accented tap with the other hand: llR L, rrL R.
Sticking
llR L rrL R
Capital letters are main notes. Small letters are grace notes played just before the main note.
How to practice it
- Play the main notes alone first, without the drags.
- Add the drag as a soft, close double stroke from the other hand.
- Speed up only when the drags stay quiet and the accents stay clear.
- The accent is on the tap, not the drag. Keep the dragged note medium and the tap loud.
Where you will use it
It trains accent control with drags and works as a snare pattern in marches.
