The Sounds of
Mickey Hart

of the Grateful Dead

Play every one of the 200 samples from Mickey Hart’s sample pack: his Beam, balafon, kalimba, berimbau, didgeridoo, steel drum, slit gongs, gourds, hoop drums, drum loops and strange, beautiful textures. Tap a pad to play it. Loops keep going until you tap them again, and loops at the same tempo lock in time with each other, so you can build a jam.

Mickey Hart drummed with the Grateful Dead for three decades. He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time, and his albums Planet Drum (1991) and Global Drum Project (2008) both won Grammys. In this pack he named his Beam sounds himself: Beam Open is a straight Beam sustain, while Fooger and Trans are different rhythmic functions.

Samples from the Mickey Hart Sample Pack, released by Splice Sounds. Loops are marked LOOP with their tempo and key. Headphones or good speakers bring out the low end of the Beam. Press Esc to stop everything.
