RUDIMENT #39 OF 40 · DRAG RUDIMENTS
Double Ratamacue
The double ratamacue adds an extra drag at the front: llR llR L R L. The last note is accented and held.
Sticking
llR llR L R L rrL rrL R L R
Capital letters are main notes. Small letters are grace notes played just before the main note.
How to practice it
- Play the main notes alone first, without the drags.
- Add the drag as a soft, close double stroke from the other hand.
- Speed up only when the drags stay quiet and the accents stay clear.
- Keep the first drag a full 8th note before the triplet starts. It is easy to rush into the triplet.
Where you will use it
It is used in rudimental solos and drum corps parts.
