The jazz waltz is swing in 3/4. A common ride pattern is “ding, ding-a-ding”: beat 1, then beat 2 with a skip note into beat 3.
At fast tempos, the jazz waltz is often felt as one big beat per bar. Let the ride flow and don’t accent every beat.
